The homestead and workshop area source their power from a stand-alone 32 panel solar power system with 16KW battery storage, installed in late 2015. Backup power is supplied by a 26KVA diesel generator (new 2013). “Elis” has telephone, satellite internet and twice weekly mail service from Muttaburra. Muttaburra offers a Primary School, Medical Health Centre, Convenience Shop, Motel, Post Office, Police Station, Library and Swimming Pool. There are also various sporting and community groups in Muttaburra. Longreach is the major shopping and Government Agency centre; it offers Distance Education, Primary and Secondary Schools and the Pastoral College, Saleyards and Rail trucking facilities. Twice monthly cattle sales are held in Blackall.  A 1200 metre airstrip is located on the property.

Description of Country

Predominately red loam, Spinifex/ Iron Bark type country with areas of sweet black soil flats throughout the northern and eastern areas of the property. It is very flat, water- shed country with very few gullies forming the Cornish/Towerhill creek systems. There are a series of black soil flats that collect the gentle cross country flow and form a small gully just before it runs into the neighbours to the south. There is a natural lake area of approximately 400 hectares in the south west corner of “Elis”. Grasses include the Desert Bluegrass, Forest Mitchell and native grasses, forbs and herbages when in season. There is a good spread of established Secca legumes. The major timber is Silver leafed Ironbark as well as Desert Oaks, Bloodwood, Box, White Gum, Mulga and various other tree and shrub species. “Elis” is prickly acacia free with small areas of Parkinsonia around one dam.

Water Improvements

The house bore is equipped with a Yanmar motor (new 2015) and a 630 Mono pump (new Nov 2013) and pumps at a rate of 2,500 gallons per hour from the Artesian Basin at a depth of 140 feet with approximately 100 foot of water above the pump. Water is pumped into a turkey nest and high house tank. There is a solar pump at the house turkey nest that is used to push water onto the 4 mile tank (including 4 water points) and a windmill/solar pump pushes the water further out to another 7 water points. Water from the house turkey nest is also gravity fed down through the 10 mile and 7 mile pipe-lines to another 7 water points. The overhead tank gravity feeds water to the house, yards, holding paddocks close to the yards and 2 water points west of holding paddocks. The 2 mile sub bore has its own solar pump and tracking panels pumping into 2 x 5,000 gallon tanks. The house bore was drilled in 1984 to a depth of 1500 feet and the 2 mile bore was drilled in 1962.  There are 4 unused sub bores.

In total there are 25 watering points which include 10 tanks, 2 cup and saucer tanks, 3 dams, 2 dugouts and a semi-permanent lake with an approximate area of 400Ha.

“Elis” has had 332mm of rain until the end of August for 2016.

The long term district average is 400 to 450mm.

Fencing Improvements

“Elis” is very well fenced into 6 main paddocks, 3 holding paddocks with most paddocks connected by a laneway system back to the yards. All of the boundary fencing has been erected within the last 15 years and all the internal fencing except for one has been replaced within the last 10 years. Most are in good to very good condition and are very well maintained

Structural Improvements

There is a very comfortable 2 bedroom home with air conditioning to the bedrooms and living area. It is set in a neat tidy easy care garden area. The 3 bay machinery/hay shed is approximately 9m x 7m x 4m. There is also a workshop/generator shed.
